Thousand of people have joined the funeral of People’s Defense Force (HPG) guerrilla Mahir Koç in Van on Tuesday. Koç lost his life in a military operation in Amasya on 9 April.

Shops were closed for the whole day in Baþkale where the funeral passed. The funeral convoy was met in Koç’s village Sorhaç with flags and slogans in favor of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Koç was laid to rest by about 3,000 including executives and deputies from the Peace and Democracy Party and mayors of Van’s districts.
