Thousands joined Civil Friday Prayer

Thousands of Kurds gathered for mass Friday prayers in mosques in support of the broader civil disobedience campaign despite heavy raining in the cities.

Kurds prayed together in the Democratic Solution Tents in Diyarbakýr, Van, Malazgirt, Yüksekova, Tatvan, Erciþ, Doðubayazýt, Hakkari, Bulanýk, Varto, Adana, Derik, Nusaybin, Bismil, Batman, Siirt, Cizre, Silopi, Viranþehir, Þýrnak, Urfa, Kýzýltepe, Suruç and Beytüþþebap.

All sermons in the tents were devoted to H. Ýbrahim Oruç, who was killed by police bullets during a peaceful protest demonstration in Bismil and buried on Thursday.

Kurds reiterated their four demands: rights to education in their mother tongue, an end to the military and political operations against Kurdish people, the release of political prisoners and the lowering of the 10 percent election threshold..

Many independent candidates who are supported by the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) and BDP executives joined the prayer.
