Thousands restore the demolished cemetery of guerrillas

Thousands of people have gathered in the province of Mardin on Monday and left for Bagok Mountain for the restoration of the Agit Suruç Martyrs' Cemetery in Bendere region. The cemetery where 44 HPG (People's Defense Forces) and PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) guerrillas are buried had been attacked, allegedly by Turkish soldiers, and the body of HPG guerrilla Ahmet Uğurlar (Agit Suruç) was exhumed from his grave last Tuesday.

The convoy of people who gathered upon the call by BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Mardin organization was stopped by police at a control point in Gırnawas region.

Following the talks between BDP Muş deputy Demir Çelik and police authorities, the crowd was allowed to leave the area which had already been surrounded by riot control vehicles and special operation teams.

After reaching the cemetery on Bagok Mountain, people have started to restore the graveyard of Kurdish guerrillas.
