Threats against Dersim independent candidate Ferhat Tunç

Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block candidate Ferhat Tunç has gone to Cemisgezek/Dersim after having learned that village guards were allegedly instructed by the Gendarmerie Command in the district to “break Ferhat Tunç’s legs”. The artist said; “We will continue to meet our people even if they break our head.”

Tunç added: “No matter which repression they apply, we will continue to go ahead with meeting our people. The people at this territory have a common culture, faith and identity. The troubler system, which tries to separate us, is setting us against each other for centuries.”

Visiting the villages Eynik, Axtuk, Brastik, Deke, Karagedik and Tatar, Tunç met with the people at village councils and village squares. He expressed his projects concerning the problems people have experienced due to the 30-year conflict in the region, the Dersim Massacre and the Kurdish and Alewi issues. Tunc remarked that he will bring the people’s problems to the parliamentary agenda as the representative of the people, not the state’s.

Tunç, remarking that the root cause of all the pressures he has experienced for 30 years is due to his expressing the pains on the geography, said the followings; “When we visit these villages today, we are followed by a car of mysterious persons. They follow us in each village we visit. We need to break the pressure chain on the villagers. Their hands must shake now when they see us. We no more fear of the JITEM (Gendarmerie Intelligence and Anti-Terror Unit). We have nothing to lose because we are not free at the land of our ancestors and we will fight for this. We will either have a democratic country or emancipate this territory by paying for it.”

Staying awake till morning last night in a village with guards, Tunç expressed that he doesn’t bear any kind of anger against them, adding that he has a problem with the mentality that pits people against each other.

Planning to visit all the villages of Cemisgezek, Tunc noted that the primary liability will belong to the Cemisgezek Gendarme District Commander in case of a person’s nose bleed.
