The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Cizre Provincial Organization launched a "vigil" after the police raid carried out on Monday morning to protest the raid and the detention of 10 people, including HDP Cizre Province co-chair Mesut Nart.
HDP Şırnak MPs Nuran Imir and Hasan Özgüneş, Peace Mothers Council members, Free Women's Movement (TJA) activists, HDP Şırnak province and district co-chairs, Cizre Municipality co-mayors Berivan Kutlu and Mehmet Zırığ, Silopi Municipality co-mayors of Adalet Fidan and Süleyman Şavluk, as well as many citizens attended the vigil.
'We won’t bow'
The vigil started with a short speech by HDP Şırnak MP Hasan Özgüneş. Stating that they will not bow to pressure, Özgüneş said that the HDP is the party of the people and that the people protect the HDP.
Vigil to last 3 days
During the vigil, the slogans "Bijî berxwedana Cizîrê" and "Bijî berxwedana Botanê" were chanted frequently.
The vigil is to last 3 days between 8.30 pm and midnight.
