Three more councilors have been suspended in Bağlar Municipality. The decision was taken by the Ministry of Interior.
Within the scope of this decision, HDP councilors Zeki Kanay, Ramazan Özçelik and Nursel Örnek, have been dismissed.
The decision was justified by a generic referral to earlier investigations and cases against the three councilors, altough no real reason has been formally communicated to the councilors.
On 21 October HDP Nurettin Bakan, Halime Bayram, Hüsnü Aslan, Mehmet Akdoğan, Panayır Çelik and Naşide Buluttekin Can were dismissed and on 8 November a trustee was appointed.
The HDP won 30 of the 37 members of Bağlar Municipality in the March 31 local elections. The AKP regime has begun to systematically reduce HDP municipal councilors by targeting the clear majority in the hands of the HDP.
With the last three dismissal, the number of HDP councilors in the Council has dropped to 21.
