Including Lice Gendarmerie Commander and one specialist sergeant, three soldiers died in the Turkish army operation in Lice district of Diyarbakýr.
The three soldiers are reported to have died as a result of a bomb explosion on the Lice-Kulp main road on early Monday morning. Among the Turkish soldiers taking part in an operation in the area, three were reportedly wounded in the explosion and died on the way to hospital. Military units were sent to the area soon after the explosion.
The operation in the area is reported to have been launched to save the English tourist who was detained on Saturday evening and released on Sunday evening by HPG (Peoples Defense Forces) guerrillas. The English tourist who was reportedly detained on the way from Diyarbakýr to Trabzon has been taken to Genç Gendarmerie Command in Bingöl.
On the other hand, one other explosion occurred early on Monday morning during the passing of a military convoy 15 kilometers away from Yüksekova district of Hakkari. Two soldiers who were wounded in the explosion have been taken under treatment in Yüksekova State Hospital. The main road was closed to traffic and mine hunting works were started in the area after the explosion.
A wide range air supported operation was launched in the region where soldiers have been transferred with Skorsky and Cobra type helicopters.
Separately, a bomb attack was launched in Ofis Neighborhood in Silopi district of Þýrnak late on Sunday evening. No reports have been received as to casualties of the bomb attack after which a large number of armed vehicles and police units were sent to the scene.
