Three soldiers died in Sarýkamýþ

In a statement on the clash between Turkish soldiers and guerrillas in Sarýkamýþ, Kars, People’s Defense Forces Press Office (HPG-BIM) reported that at least three soldiers died and many others were wounded in the clashes on 28 May.

HPG statement also gave information about the detention of ten military post construction workers in Korhan(Korxan) region of Iðdýr. “Three vehicles were set on fire and ten workers were detained by guerrillas on 28 May as a result of the attack against the military post building”, reported HPG-BIM.

Detentions and arrests by HPG guerrillas have recorded an increase since the statement by HPG Main Headquarters Commander Nurettin Sofi who had said that “We will obey rules and do necessary judgments to enable KCK’s judicial bodies be effective in Kurdistan.”  

Ten villagers who were detained by guerrillas near the Bayýrlý village of Diyarbakýr on 22 May were released on 28 May after being questioned and confirmed to have no links to the accusations put forward.
