Þýrnak City Council: don't go to parliament

Remarking that the people of Botan are targeted by the AKP government, Þýrnak City Council said that the forced vacancies of the City Council’s arrested politicians will quickly be filled and work will not be hindered. The Council called on BDP deputies to continue boycotting the Parliament and on people to not to perform military services, not to pay taxes and not to appear at courts.  

Holding a meeting concerning the recent operations and arrests executed in Þýrnak under the name of KCK, Þýrnak City Council made a written statement to announce the decisions made by the Council during the meeting.

The statement noted that the meeting also addressed to the isolation of the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and made a decision to organize actions and activities based on Mr. Öcalan’s freedom in the coming times.

In the statement, Þýrnak City Council called on the BDP to continue boycotting the Parliament and to take place in City Councils in a process when air and land operations are increasing, Öcalan is not allowed to meet with his lawyers, elected deputies aren’t released from prison and more and more politicians are being arrested. The Council also called on people to boycott the military service and paying taxes which serve to the war circumstances and appearing at courts that prevent Kurdish people from expressing and defending themselves in Kurdish.

The statement called on the DTK, BDP and other city councils to play their parts better and to raise the organization, struggle and resistance in the coming process.
