The Kurdish Women’s Movement in Europe (TJK-E) released a written statement raising concern over the latest wave of Turkish invasion attacks on the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

“If a total struggle is developed against these attacks and the resistance of the guerrillas is embraced, the Turkish state will suffer a greater defeat than in the past, and this will be the beginning of the end for the Turkish forces,” the statement released on Monday said.

TJK-E's full statement is as follows:

“The fascist Turkish state has launched a new invasion attack on the Zap and Kurejahro areas in the Medya Defense Zones. First of all, we would like to state that no attack will be successful against the will of the Kurdish people; the freedom march will not be stopped, and these attacks will be defeated.

KDP’S INVOLVEMENT

According to the HPG statement, the Turkish aggression, which escalated on the evening of 17 April, was initiated especially from the southern line. This situation shows that a new dirty plan has been implemented in cooperation with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). The reason for the recent meetings between the KDP officials and the Turkish state is now obvious.

In February last year, the Turkish state launched an attack on Garê from the same line, but this attack resulted in failure like the previous ones. With unprecedented resistance in Garê, Werxelê, Mamreşo, Zendura and Girê Sor, the guerrilla forces retaliated against those who attempted to break the will of the Kurdish people at the cost of huge prices.

The fascist Turkish state, which suffered several defeats in all of its cross-border operations in the 90s, in Zap in 2008, and finally in all the attacks between 2020-2021, has now launched another aggression in cooperation with the KDP. This recent attack is a serious threat to all the gains of the Kurdish people and to the freedom stance and leadership of Kurdish women that inspires the whole world.

TURKISH ATTACKS WILL BE DEFEATED THROUGH TOTAL RESISTANCE

If a total resistance is developed against these attacks and the resistance of the guerrillas is embraced, the Turkish state will suffer a greater defeat than in the past, and this will be the beginning of the end for the Turkish forces.

The 50th Newroz and the 8 March events proved that no attack could break this will for freedom. Such a will is strong enough to repel all attacks. Therefore, we call on the Kurdish people, women, all revolutionary and democratic groups and feminist circles living in Europe to take to the streets, embrace the will of freedom and defend Kurdistan.”
