TJK-E members take over the vigil for Öcalan on its 236th week

The guard watch for Öcalan demanding the freedom of the Kurdish People’s Leader continues in Strasbourg, France on its 236th week. Women from the TJK-E took over this week’s watch.

European Kurdish Women’s Movement (TJK-E) has been taking over the guard watch at least once a month since June 25, 2012, and a group of 4 women made up of Halime Adet, Hatice Tekiz, Hanım Can and Dilek Gül took over this week’s guard watch for Öcalan.

TJK-E members continue their guard watch and inform the public in an area near the European Court of Human Rights and The Committee for the Prevention of Torture despite the cold weather. In a statement they made, TJK-E members emphasized the importance Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan gives to women’s liberation and described standing up for Öcalan as one of the most important duties of women. TJK-E members also noted that in Öcalan’s paradigm, organized women put up an exemplary struggle not only in the Middle East but also across the globe.

Lastly, TJK-E members emphasized the importance of resisting patriarchal and gang-like oppressive mentality across Kurdistan for all women’s movements, and noted that they would continue to inform the public about the struggle of Öcalan and women during their guard watch until Sunday.
