TKP/ML prisoners to go on hunger strike

TKP/ML prisoners saluted the hunger strikes and said, “Our people must not allow the resistance to be passed over in silence,” in their announcement of a 5-day hunger strike.

Leyla Guven’s hunger strike against the Imrali isolation continues on day 112, as well as hunger strikes by prisoners.

Ismail Yilmaz issued a written statement in the name of prisoners from the Communist Party of Turkey/Marxist-Leninist (TKP/ML) case who are going on a hunger strike in all prisons to protest the aggression policies against revolutionary and democratic groups and the isolation, and announced that they will be going on a 5-day hunger strike from March 1 to 6.

“HUNGER STRIKES ARE A CALL FOR RESISTANCE AGAINST FASCISM”

The statement said:

“The hunger strike Leyla Guven started against the isolation imposed upon Ocalan has continued for over 100 days, and the prisoners’ hunger strikes for over 50, but the fascist Turkish state ignores the protests in an attempt to let them burn out.

The hunger strikes in prisons are an expression of non-surrender and an unequivocal call for resistance against the increasing attacks by fascism. The fascist Turkish state understands the resistance just as it is, thus desires to smother and suppress these resistances by ignoring the demands.

The demands put forth by revolutionary and patriotic prisoners are legitimate. Our people must not allow the resistance to be passed over in silence, and must stand with the resistance.

With this, we as the TKP/ML prisoners in all prisons will hold a 5-day hunger strike from March 1 to 6.”
