Torture and detentions in Kurdish Federal Region

The ex-leader of Democratic Solution Party of Kurdistan (PCDK) Faik Gulpi was tortured by Kurdish pasmargha forces during his detention, local sources claim.

Gulpi was detained in Suleymaniyah yesterday along with PCKDK officials Abubakr Majid and Kamal Sadiq Qadir. The detentions came after Iraqi governments decision to ban all the demonstrations in the country.

Gulpi and others are still held in Suleymaniyah and his family was informed that there is an arrest warrant for Gulpi.

His family says Gulpi was tortured under detention and his health condition is worrisome.

PCDK was not directly involved in protests against the Kurdish administration in South Kurdistan but called the government to make necessary reforms for a transparent regime.

The protests intensified for the last five days and more than 200 were wounded during the clashes between the Kurdish pasmargha and protestors. (B.O.)
