A trustee has been appointed to the District Municipality of Cizre in the province of Şırnak.

Early in the morning, police officers went to the house of Cizre Municipality co-mayor Mehmet Zırığ to notify him that the council had been appointed as trustee.

As co-mayor Mehmet Zırığ was not at home, the notice was delivered to the muhtar (neighborhood head).

All roads leading to the Municipal Service Building were blocked by police barricades.

With this appointment, the number of trustee-appointed HDP municipalities has increased to 13, including the Metropolitan Municipalities of Diyarbakır, Van and Mardin.

Cizre co-mayor Mehmet Zırığ had been elected in the March 31 local elections receiving 77 percent of the votes.
