The Turkish army continues its massive attacks on Southern Kurdish territory unabated. According to the press center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG), the guerrilla-controlled Medya Defense Areas were bombed thirteen times by fighter jets and twelve times by attack helicopters between 5 and 7 April. Targets were hit in the Xakurke, Gare, Metîna, and Zap regions.
According to the HPG, resistance tunnels in the western Zap region were also bombed from the air with phosphorus bombs, banned explosives, and chemical gas on 7 and 8 April.
Turkish occupation forces carried out further attacks from the ground during the same period. The HPG recorded a total of 818 hits from heavy weapons, artillery, and howitzers between 5 and 9 April. More than half of these shells were directed against areas in the Zap region, while additional shelling affected the Xakurke, Gare, and Metîna regions.
According to HPG, guerrilla units in the Metîna region responded to a ground attack with automatic weapons at 10:40 p.m. on 7 April in an action of legitimate self-defense.
