Turkish Chief of Defence Hulusi Akar who was taken captive by the army attempting to seize power last night, has been 'rescued from the army'.

Akar has been brought to the Çankaya Palace with a helicopter after being rescued from Akıncılar Airbase. A statement by Turkish Prime Minister's Office said that Akar is now on duty.
