Turkish PM to be met with a protest demonstration in Germany

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım will be met with a mass demonstration on his arrival in Oberhausen city of Germany on Saturday for a rally before April's referendum.

German Left Party (Die Linke), Left Party Youth Organization and Europe 'No' Platform are organising a mass demonstration in the city of Oberhausen where Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım will hold a rally this Saturday.

The protest demonstration to be held at Oberhausen Hauptbahnhof Haupteingang at 11:00 on February 18 is supported by many parties, movements and NGOs from Germany, Kurdistan and Turkey.

A joint statement by organisers of the demonstration stressed that Turkish PM's spreading the propaganda of their fascist regime in Oberhausen was unacceptable, and called attention to the purpose of the rally to ensure a 'Yes' outcome from the referendum to be held in Turkey in April.

The statement recalled that such rallies by government officials, by Erdoğan in the first place, made a reference to fascist sentiments and caused a polarization of the migrants from Turkey.

Drawing attention to the AKP government's severe repression against opposition circles and defenders of human rights and peace, the statement pointed out the arbitrary imprisonment and threats faced by HDP deputies, dismissal of union members, academics and thousands of public servants in addition to the eliminations executed in the fields of education and judiciary.

The statement remarked that Binali Yıldırım would come to Germany on instruction from Tayyip Erdoğan who aimed a presidential system that would not only harm democracy but also lay the foundations of a dictatorship in Turkey.

The statement ended with "No to one-man dictatorship", "No to fascist presidential system in Turkey".
