Making the opening speech of the HDP (People's Democratic Party) great congress in Ankara, Istanbul deputy Levent Tüzel pointed out that the HDP was a solution and hope for the peoples in Turkey and created a true direct alternative against the parties of the dominant system.
Tüzel remarked that the party would put forward realistic and determined solutions to the major problems in the country and the Kurdish region, stressing that this success would carry the people to the government and to the future.
"Together with our people, we are going to show what organized forces can achieve", Tüzel said and pointed out that the HDP was a front movement demanding democracy, peace, freedom and brotherhood for all peoples in Turkey. The BDP Istanbul deputy noted that the party would also be standing by the Gezi resistance in response to those who suggest going to polls in the face of the demands highlighted by peoples, democrats, intellectuals and millions of people who poured into the streets during Gezi protests.
Referring to the walls of shame Turkey is building on the border with west Kurdistan, Tüzel underlined that "Our primary duty will be to demolish these walls and to ensure the liberation of this country's children who are being held in prisons. Refusing a republic which is built on denial and assimilation, we will be fighting for the ruling of love, labor and brotherhood."
Speaking after Tuncel, Tuncer Bakırhan, president of the council formed at the congress, said that the gathering of the congress has been achieved thanks to the struggle given by revolutionary leaders Deniz Gezmiş, Mahir Çayan, İbrahim Kaypakkaya and PKK's (Kurdistan Workers' Party) leaders Kemal Pir and Haki Karer. Bakırhan remarked that "The works of Öcalan, who promised to ensure the formation of a democratic national unity for a solution and a democratic and free Middle East and Turkey, are bearing fruit today.
Bakırhan noted that the HDP would be leading the people to the target Öcalan put forward aiming to unite the revolutionary leaders of the past with the democratic national unity of the Middle East in present.
