Viviana Muñoz Marín was a facilitator for the Agency for The Reincorporation and Normalisation and Jesús Ignacio Gómez was a social leader.
The two peace defenders were kidnapped by unknown men and their lifeless bodies were found three days after their disappearance in San Vicente del Caguan, Caquetá.
In a press release the People’s Alternative and Revolutionary Force party (FARC), said that this “double murder targeted the peace process. It is yet another massacre against social leaders, human rights activists and former guerrillas involved in the process of reincorporation.”
The FARC also called on the National Government to “comply with its obligation and implement all measures aimed at guaranteeing the safety of the communities in all regions affected by the conflict.”
