Two more social leaders killed in Colombia

Two social leaders have been killed in Colombia.

The governor of the department of Nariño, Camilo Romero, confirmed that social leader Lucy Villareal was killed in Tumaco.

According to the governor, the woman was attacked when she finished giving a workshop for children in Tumaco. The governor said that Villarreal, in addition to being a social leader, was a human rights defender.

The social leader was the mother of two girls, and coordinated the exhibition "South women and life", which is dedicated to exalting the work done by women leaders in the territory in relation to the defense of human rights.

On a separate news, the authorities confirmed the murder of social leader Carrillo Vera in the Los Pinos neighborhood. Vera was celebrating Christmas Eve with his relatives.

Although he was immediately taken to the San Antonio de Pitalito hospital, the 34-year-old man died "due to the seriousness of the injuries he presented," he added.
