Tüm Bel Sen Diyarbakýr branch staged a demonstration to protest against the arrest of BDP mayors and executives in Van.

Members of Tüm Bel Sen and Genel Ýþ unions gathered in front of Diyarbakýr Municipality where Tüm Bel Sen Diyarbakýr Branch Chair Medeni Alpkaya made a press statement and evaluated the mindset of arresting elected representatives as a treachery.

Being an executive or a member of the BDP is considered as if being a member of an illegal organization, underlined Alpkaya and added that; “The people of Van who still haven’t relived the traumatic wounds of the earthquake are now having the shock of the arrest of the people they elected. The number of jailed Kurdish politicians has exceeded seven thousand, including nine deputies and eighteen mayors in the region.”

We are here to protect our will, said Alpkaya and added that; “We will not give up giving a struggle for democracy until we obtain freedom. We will never allow neo-fascism.”

Demonstrators staged one-minute sit-in action after the press statement.
