Hakkari Public Prosecutor's Office has finalized the investigation and prepared the indictment against HDP Hakkari MP Abdullah Zeydan who was arrested on November 4 and put in Edirne F Type Closed Prison together with HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş.
In the indictment which was approved by Hakkari 2nd High Criminal Court, up to 20-year prison sentence is sought for Zeydan on charges of “spreading propaganda for a terrorist organisation”, “praising crime and criminal”, “organising unlawful meetings and demonstrations” and “being member to a terrorist organisation”.
Zeydan is accused of participating and making speeches in 7 separate meetings, demonstrations, protests and funerals in Hakkari, Gever and Şırnak in 2015-2016.
The indictment also demands that in the event of being sentenced, Zeydan be deprived of membership to the parliament, employment in all state services, right to elect and be elected and right to guardianship.
The first hearing in the case will be held in February and the court demanded the transfer of the case to another city for "security reasons".
