Urgent aid appeal for people from Kobanê
Thousands of people from Kobanê who have come to the Suruç district of Urfa because of the ISIS gangs attacks on Kobanê are struggling to survive in the tent cities. The people urgently need materials such as food, baby food and bedding.
According to a statement issued by the Kobanê aid commission, thousands of people from Kobanê coming to Suruç because of the attacks by the ISIS gangs on Kobanê need urgent assistance. A member of the Kobanê aid commission, Halil Akbaş, said that food, bedding, clothing and blankets are urgently required.
Aktaş added: “hundreds of thousands of tonnes of aid were sent by BDP and HDP municipalities, by our philanthropists and wealthy citizens. However, because there are many people who have had to seek shelter here, there is always need. Until now, we have never asked for aid from any institution of the state. The most necessary requirements for the people coming from Kobanê are blankets, bedding and pillows and rugs. Because of the lack of bedding, any people are sleeping in the cold and falling ill. Also, we need olives, cheese, jam and similar food for breakfast. We are also running out of cleaning materials. The children are hungry. We need lentils, chickpeas and beans. In order to keep warm, the people need electric stoves.”
