A delegation of members of the US House of Representatives will meet with the head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organisation (MIT), the Minister of Defence and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee following their meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara.

The delegation's visit to Ankara comes before AKP President Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to the US on 9 May.

US House of Representatives Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, Ranking Member Adam Smith and the accompanying delegation began their visit to Ankara on Thursday, 28 March.

The delegation first met with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

On the second day of the visit, the US delegation will meet with İbrahim Kalın, the head of the National Intelligence Organisation (MIT), Yaşar Güler, the Minister of National Defence, and Hulusi Akar, the chair of the Parliamentary Defence Commission.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defence, the PKK and attacks against Rojava, F-16 procurement and modernisation process will be discussed between the two sides.

These talks coincide with the Turkish state's continued attacks on Rojava and threats of a new invasion of southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is also planning a visit to Iraq in April and is due to visit the US on 9 May.
