Families of Kurds who have been on a hunger strike in Strasbourg, France since December 17, 2018 launched a vigil in front of the German Prime Ministry yesterday.

Families of Agit Ural, Mustafa Sarikaya, Mustafa Tuzak and KCDK-E Co-chair Yuksel Koc are attending the vigil in front of the Prime Ministry.

The families submitted a folder explaining the hunger strikes and their demands to the prime ministry as part of the protest supported by Kurdish institutions in Berlin.

Protesters carried banners and photographs about the hunger strikes and chanted “Freedom for Ocalan, Status for Kurdistan”, “Jin Jiyan Azadi”, “Biji Leyla Guven” and “Long Live Revolutionary Solidarity”.

The vigil will continue for 3 days. A tent has been set up in front of the prime ministry for the protest, which will conclude after protesters attend March 8 World Women's Day events.

The families issued a statement during the protest and said the hunger strike resistance started by Leyla Guven with a sacred and righteous demand expresses the demand of millions, and is embraced with high morale. The families also called on Germany, EU countries and the Council of Europe to break their silence in the face of possible deaths and take urgent action.
