A Vigil was launched in Athens to protest the seizure of the HDP-run municipalities of Amed, Van and Mardin by the AKP, that dismiss the legally and democratically elected mayors on 19 August.

The Vigil organised by the Greece Action Union and the North Kurdistan-Turkey Platform is taking place in the famous Syntagma Square.

HDP flags, photos of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan decorated the place.

The people are supporting the Vigil and the activists are handing out leaflets to passersby.
