‘We will not allow the ISIS gangs to carry out a massacre’

The Yezidi Kurds involved in the resistance against the ISIS gangs in Sinjar, which has been under attack since 20 October, say they will not allow the people to be slaughtered.
HPG guerrillas involved in clashes in the south of Sinjar with the Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS) and local people against the ISIS gangs explained the resistance put up during the last five days.

Memo Mardin, one of the guerrilla commanders in Sinjar, said: “Following their failure in Kobanê the gangs have turned towards our Yezidi people on Mount Sinjar. They want to take revenge for the defeat they have suffered in Kobanê by carrying out a massacre here. We will fight to the last drop of our blood to protect our people here.”

YBS fighter Ferhan Kaval said the ISIS gangs had been trying to reach Mount Sinjar from the south since 20 October and that there had been a great resistance put up, adding: “the gangs’ advance has been halted.”

In addition to the HPG guerrillas and YBS forces there are also volunteers of various ages involved in the resistance against the ISIS gangs. One of these is Pir Kemal.

The HPG guerrillas said the resistance is determined to fight to the end against the ISIS gangs to prevent them carrying out a massacre.
