When to be attacked is a veiled Kurdish woman
During the Gezi park resistance Erdogan 's government used as a political tool, at every possible opportunity, the attack against a veiled woman in Besiktas by protesters, showing it as a sign of intolerance. But when the target of the attacks was a veiled Kurdish student taking part to the resistance, the government acted like the three monkeys. During the Gezi protests, K.İ. who was wearing a veil (turban in Turkish) was badly attacked by a racist gang. No legal action against the attackers was taken.
K.İ. student of Marmara University, in Goztepe Campus was beaten violently by 15 members of a racist nationalist movement and her veil was removed from her head. When the police arrived at the scene, did not do accept the complaint request and the University administration did not proceed in the case of K.I.
This attack did not come up until today and for the first time K.İ. talked about this to ANF: "I was kicked on the ground just next to the police observation point for minutes. I did not receive a single slap from my mother and father in all my life and, this attack affected me really badly" she said .
They removed my turban and beated me for several minutes
The attacks began during the final exams in 2013 when the nationalist students attacked and wounded a student with a chopping knife. Since then K.I, who is a science and literature student has started not to walk alone to the school, but she has became a target near the police observation point where the police is present for 24 hours.
K.İ. said of the attack she has undergone on May 31: "On the way to class to take the exam, I saw a group of 15 nationalist people. When I was about to change my way they noticed me and ran towards me. I was trying to escape when one of them pushed me violently and made me fall. Another pulled off my veil while swearing at me.
Police watched, school administration covered up
They started to kick my stomach and my head and they broke a glass bottle on my back. Although the police surveillance point was just next to us, I was beaten for minutes on the ground. A friend of mine came to the scene shouting, and the police after him, but they let the nationalists go away".
K.I. was taken to Goztepe Training and Research Hospital, and as she specified she went through a trauma after this event and did not tell anything about it to her parents for a long time. The school administration is trying to cover it up, just like the police, says K.I. "I've filed complaints to the administration of the school after the attack. However even if this administration open investigation even for a press release written by students, they remained silent against this attack" she said.
School administration should be punished
K.I. is getting prepared to file a lawsuit on the issue. She would like to see the nationalists who attacked her punished, but also the police who did not do anything and the school administration that pretends that nothing happened.
K.I., which did not ever receive a single slap from her mother and father in her life defines as a very hard situation the fact that she was beaten in this way by the fascists and says that another problem was that the attackers were pronouncing the name of Allah while they were beating her.
