Hundreds of activists of West Kurdistan Revolutionary Young Women's Movement staged a march to protest violence against women in the province of Dêrik on Saturday.
Demonstrators marched from Freedom Square to the office of Revolutionary Young Women's Movement, carrying banners which read "Na ji tundiya li dijî jinan re, Jin jiyan e azadî" [No free society without free women, Women, life, freedom].
Following one-minute's silence for all woman fighters who have lost their life in the freedom struggle, women released a statement which condemned violence, rape, harassment against women and female circumcision and forced marriages.
The statement of activists put emphasis on the struggle women in Rojava are giving against the male-dominant system in both political and social area and the role women have played in the Rojava revolution.
