Writer Turk and 2 prisoners take turn for worse

Hunger strikers writer Murat Turk and prisoners Abdulvahap Siyar Aydemir and Vahdettin Yalciner’s conditions have taken a turn for the worse.

The conditions of hunger strikers protesting the isolation in Izmir Odemis Type T Prison, writer Murat Turk and prisoners Abdulvahap Siyar Aydemir and Vahdettin Yalciner, are taking a turn for the worse.

Father Ahmet Aydemir said he met with his son Abdulvahap, who has been on a hunger strike since March 1, yesterday and was told that the pressure against prisoners was increasing.

“TURK HAS FREQUENT NOSEBLEEDS”
Mother Yildiz Aydemir spoke about the health of writer Murat Turk and Vahdettin Yalciner who have been on hunger strikes for 65 days in the same ward as their son, who lost 13 kilos.

Aydemir said Turk has frequent nosebleeds and continued: “They can’t sleep due to muscle pain and stomach cramps. Murat Turk had lost more weight than the other prisoners. I was told he has frequent nosebleeds. Every week we see them getting weaker, wasting away. This isolation must end, for my son and for all our children in prisons. When they can’t sleep in their wards, we can’t sleep at home. It feels like a sin to sleep.”
