KOMAW: Kurds spoiled the conspiracy against Öcalan

KOMAW called “all the Kurdish people, especially all families of martyrs and their relatives, to a more active struggle for the unity and freedom of the Kurds."

KOMAW said in a statement regarding the anniversary of the international conspiracy which led to the capture of Abdullah Öcalan: “22 years have passed since the international conspiracy that had historical consequences for the Kurdish people. The international powers and their collaborators in the region, with interests in the Middle East and Kurdistan and fear of the Kurdish liberation movement that started under the leadership of Abdullah Öcalan ignored international law, captured Öcalan and handed him over to the Turkish state.”

The statement continued: “The purpose of this conspiracy was to leave the Kurdish freedom movement headless, to dissolve, divide and liquidate this which had become the hope of the Kurdish people. It was to darken the future of the Kurdish people. In this respect, the 15 February 1999 conspiracy was extremely dangerous for the Kurdish people.

Those who expected that the Kurdish people would not survive after this conspiracy however, did not calculate things well. The Kurdish Freedom Movement's resolute struggle in every field, the resistance of Öcalan in Imralı, the leadership of the Kurdish Freedom Movement made it possible for Kurds in the four parts to adopt the ideological leadership and system designed by Rêber Apo [Öcalan]. Ultimately the conspiracy has been spoiled.”

The statement recalled that “the Turkish state has been imposing an unprecedented isolation on Kurdish people's leader Öcalan, who has been imprisoned on the island of Imralı for 22 years. This inhuman practice in Imrali does not exist anywhere in the world. In this regard, the fascist AKP-MHP government knows no law, no rule but follows a vengeful, racist attitude. Unfortunately, nobody speaks of these unfair, anti-democratic and inhumane practices. Europe, the CPT and the world remain silent on this issue.”

KOMAW ended its statement by calling “all the Kurdish people, especially all families of martyrs and their relatives, to a more active struggle for the unity and freedom of the Kurds. We condemn the forces that continue to carry on this conspiracy."
