The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg, France has entered its 451st week. Kurdish young people from Paris took over the vigil this week.
Young Kurdish patriots from Paris took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil , which takes place seven days a week between 8.30 am and 5 pm. The new group includes Abbas Uce, Özgür Aslan, Tansu Tek and Roni Yurtsever.
The young activists called on everyone to join the activities and actions promoted to condemn the 22nd anniversary of the international conspiracy that led to the capture of Abdullah Öcalan.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Özgür Aslan said that when the leader of a people is taken hostage, the people themselves are taken hostage, and added that as Kurdish youth, they will continue their struggle until the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan is achieved. Adding that the "enemy aims at destroying the struggle for freedom and justice of the Kurdish people with the international conspiracy", Aslan said that "in the 22nd year of the conspiracy, all Kurds in the world should stand up and say the leader's freedom is our freedom."
The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, which was launched on 25 June 2012 demanding the end of the isolation imposed upon Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, continues with determination. The action, which is carried out in front of the buildings of the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) in Strasbourg, continues every week with groups of Kurds and their friends living in the diaspora.
