The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg has entered its 452nd week. Kurdish young people from Paris Evry have taken over the vigil this week.
The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil was taken over by a group of young Kurdish people from Paris Evry this week, the 452nd.
The group consists of Şahin Kaya, Murat Demir, Ibrahim Baş and Mahmut Yılmaz who will be stay and the Vigil until Sunday between 8 am and 5.30 pm. Speaking on behalf of the group Şahin Kaya saluted the guerrilla's victory in Gare and said that the struggle of the fallen guerrillas will not be forgotten by the Kurdish people.”
Kaya added: “Our Leader has been under severe isolation for 22 years. We cannot be free if our Leader is not free.”
Emphasizing that despite all the efforts of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan to solve the Kurdish problem through peace and democratic methods, the solution of the Turkish state is to destroy the Kurds and added: “What the Turkish state understands is to spill Kurdish blood. But as we have seen in Garê, they will not succeed. We show that the key for the solution is in Imrali.”
Kaya also called on everybody to support the prisoners on hunger strike against isolation and for the freedom of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and added that they will achieve victory with the struggle in every field.
The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil which was launched on 25 June 2012 demanding the end of the isolation imposed upon Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, continues with determination. The action, which is carried out in front of the buildings of the Council of Europe and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) in Strasbourg, continues every week with groups of Kurds and their friends living in the diaspora.
