YPG (People's Protection Units) Press Centre has released a statement giving information about the intensified clashes going on in Rabia-Jazaa-Dugura region for the last two days.
According to the statement, YPG forces inflicted a heavy blow on ISIS gangs that targeted the security corridor opened by the YPG and HPG (People's Defence Forces) guerrillas who rescued tens of thousands by evacuating them from Sinjar to Rojava after the Ezidi town was occupied by inhuman gangs on 3 August.
74 members of the gangs were killed and 14 fighters of the YPG and YPJ (Women's Defence Units) lost their lives in clashes in the Jazaa-Rabia-Sinjar triangle.
YPG reported that ISIS attacks which started on 27 September evening still continued, and that gangs have dispatched a large part of their forces in Iraq to this region, launching attacks with heavy weaponry all day and night long yesterday.
The statement pointed out that YPG forces strongly responded to the attacks and inflicted a heavy defeat on the gangs in Rabia-Jazaa-Dugura region.
YPG noted that ongoing clashes have intensified in the area of the security corridor leading to Rojava.
YPG stated that their forces have halted the advance of ISIS gangs in Jazaa region, strongly responding to their attacks on the villages of Kenanê and Kênhu which are located to the south of Jazaa and within the borders of Iraq. 42 members of the gangs were ascertained killed and four vehicles of the gangs destroyed in clashes in this region.
The statement also reported that heavy clashes are taking place in the region called Kale, located in the midst of the Sinjar security corridor. 15 gang members were killed and two vehicles belonging to them were destroyed in clashes during which gangs suffered a heavy defeat.
YPG said their forces have also repulsed the ISIS attacks that targeted the Rabia town of Mosul, killing at least 17 members of the radical Islamist gangs.
14 fighters of the YPG/YPJ also lost their lives in clashes in this region.
