YPG: 83 gang members killed in Kobanê

YPG (People's Defense Units) has reported in a written statement that the attacks of ISIS gangs aiming to occupy Kobanê continued for the 76th day.

According to the statement, the attacks launched by ISIS gangs from Turkish soil and the eastern front of Kobanê yesterday have all been repulsed.

On the other hand, YPG/YPJ fighters launched the most expansive operation conducted on the southern front ever since the besiege of the town. East Botan neighborhood was liberated from the gang groups who were forced to retreat up to the hospital area located in the southest point of the town as result of the operation that lasted 24 hours.

YPG Press Centre stated that clashes that broke out following the attacks of ISIS groups from the area of Mürşitpınar border gate and wheat silos of the TMO (soil products office) on Turkish soil continued ceaselessly till the night.

The statement informed that ISIS gangs carried out four suicide attacks, including one with a panzer vehicle and two suicide assailants at the border gate, and one other with a bomb-laden vehicle in the area of wheat silos.

Following the suicide attacks, YPG/YPJ units intervened the gangs that mounted an attack from the northern side of the border. Clashes between Protection Units and ISIS groups on Turkish side continued till late evening, as a result of which gangs were pushed away from the areas of the border gate and wheat silos, then from the area of the bridge right to the north of the silos.

The statement said that around 35 gang members who fled the assault of YPG forces headed 2 kilometers towards the eastern side of wheat silos along the Turkish border.

YPG/YPJ units turned back to their positions at around 1 o'clock at night after cleansing the region entirely of the gangs and taking the region under control.

15 members of the gangs were killed and arms belonging to them were seized as their attacks in the region were repelled. Corpses of five ISIS militants were also seized by YPG units.

YPG Press Centre reported that 11 fighters of the YPG, 1 of the Shamsi Shîmal, 1 asayesh (security units) officer and 3 civilians were killed in the explosions and following clashes in the Mürşitpınar border gate area.

Reporting that gang groups also carried out simultaneous attacks around the areas of Sukul Hal, Municipality and the Azadi (Freedom) Square on the southeastern front, YPG Press Centre said that a suicide attack with a bomb-laden vehicle at Azadi Aquare was thwarted by YPG units. 12 gang members were killed in the fighting.

According to the statement, YPG/J forces pushed the gang groups to the border of the town on the southern front as result of an operation that started on 28 November evening and continued uninterruptedly till late night of the 29th.

YPG/J also inflicted severe blows on the ISIS in fierce clashes that resulted in the liberation of the occupied East Botan neighborhood from the ISIS.

Also thwarting two suicide car attacks aiming to hinder the operation, and destroying 3 tanks belonging to the gangs, YPG/J fighters destroyed a motorcycle with gang members on it on Termik road last midnight.

47 gang members were killed, 3 others wounded and 5 rifles belonging to them were seized during the operation on the southern front and East Botan neighborhood.

Actions by YPG/YPJ forces also targeted the ISIS groups deployed around the villages of Izea, Hamlet Erbûs and Mimeta on the western front along yesterday. At least 9 members of the gangs were ascertained killed here.

YPG Press Centre added that a total of 83 gang members have been killed, as much as ascertained, during the clashes and operations in the last 24 hours.
