YPG: ISIS attacks on Mürşitpınar repelled
YPG (People's Defense Units) said in a written statement that the attacks of ISIS gangs aiming to occupy Kobanê continued on the 75th day.
YPG Press Centre reported that ISIS groups have been launching attacks from the southern and eastern fronts of Kobanê since last night, using the heavy weapon reinforcements they have brought in from other regions such as Raqqa and Minbic.
The statement stressed that YPG and YPJ (Women's Defense Units) mounted a massive resistance on all fronts to the ISIS gangs that have also conducted an attack from Mürşitpınar border gate early this morning.
YPG Press Centre stated that ISIS groups carried out attacks with a bomb-laden vehicle and two suicide attackers from the Mürşitpınar border crossing between Kobanê and North Kurdistan at around 05:00 Saturday morning.
The statement said that ISIS gangs have attempted an attack after infiltrating from the area of the wheat granaries on Turkey's side, to the east of the border crossing, exploding two bomb laden vehicles as two other ISIS members blew themselves up at the Mürşitpınar border gate. According to the statement, fierce and hand-to-hand combat took place between YPG/YPJ units and ISIS groups that mounted an attack soon after the explosions. Attacks in the border crossing area have been repulsed while clashes across the area of the wheat granaries are going on.
On the other hand, violent clashes are also taking place in the areas of Sukul Hal, Azadi Square and Asayesh on the eastern front.
YPG Press Centre said that the ISIS groups also launched a new wave of attacks with heavy weapons and 3 tanks on the southern front last night. The ISIS gangs simultaneously attempted attacks with two bomb-laden vehicles both of which were blown up and destroyed by YPG units.
According to the statement, YPG forces strongly responded and repelled the attacks, and launched a counterattack against the gang groups, advancing one step further in this region and taking the control of some strategical points.
Two tanks belonging to the gangs were destroyed while the number of casualties on ISIS side couldn't be made clear. Intense clashes on the front are continuing.
