YPJ fighter Cihan Botan (Zehra Özmen) who fell a martyr in Afrin on 7 July 2018 has been commemorated in Cologne city of Germany.

The commemoration at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Cologne saw a speech by a representative of the Martyrs’ Families Institution (KOMAW) who stated that the martyrs sacrificed their lives with their commitment, determination and bravery.

Speaking after, a family member of Özmen said the following; “She is neither the first nor the last martyr of ours. Perhaps we will sacrifice thousands of more lives for this cause but we hold our head high. Our condolences to the people of Kurdistan. Şehid Namirin, Bijî Serok Apo."
