The series of events organized by the Zurich Rojava Committee on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution continues since April.

The August theme of the events held in Zurich was "Rojava and the Women's Revolution".

The event was organized by the Zurich Rojava Committee, Beritan Kurdish Women's Assembly and FIST (Feminist, Internationalist and Solidarity Meeting), Nora and Amara, two internationalists, who participated in the "Women Defend Rojava - Women Defend Rojava" campaign, which is active in different countries.

Launch of the book “We know what we want”

Nora and Amara, who took part in the internationalist women's delegation and visited Rojava in 2018, studied women's self-organization in Rojava in the editorial group called 'Zusammen Kämpfen (Struggle Together) with 14 other women. After nearly 6 months of work, the editorial group returned to Europe and the result of the interviews they made and their impressions is a book titled “Wir wissen, was wir wollen – We know what we want”.

Amara and Nora presented the book and spoke about the role of women in the Rojava Revolution. They read excerpts from the book, and talked about the development of the 10-year revolution process and the role of women in society.

In her presentation, Amara said that the Rojava Revolution, which started in 2012, is a common value for many people and should be protected, because women, who were ignored by society before the revolution, are now present in every aspect of life and are the catalyst and representative of the revolution. Stating that this is an example and hope not only for Rojava, Syria or the Middle East, but also for all women's movements in the world, Amara also drew attention to the invasion and destruction attacks of the Turkish state.

'We have to defend Rojava'

Stating that the Rojava Revolution's hope for the oppressed in the region and the world in a short period of 10 years disturbed the colonial and oppressive powers in the world, Nora continued: "Today, more than ever, Rojava needs to be defended."

The event, which commemorated Jiyan Tolhildan, Roj Xabur and Barîn Botan, who were killed in the air attack by the Turkish state while returning from the Women's Revolution Forum in Qamishlo on 22 July 2022, continued with a questions and answers session.

The Rojava Revolution 10th anniversary events will continue on 24 September in Zurich.
