SDF detains 30 ISIS mercenaries in Deir ez-Zor

The SDF carried out operations in 21 different places as part of their efforts to dismantle the ISIS cell structure in the countryside of Deir Ez-zor. 30 ISIS mercenaries were detained in the comprehensive operation.

The Press Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said in a written statement that its anti-terrorist units carried out an operation "in coordination with the international coalition forces in Deir ez-Zor, arresting 30 members belonging to ISIS sleeper cells."

The arrests, said the statement, were made as a result of "simultaneous raids targeting several hideouts in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, on Monday night after midnight."

The statement continued: "The anti-terrorist units had identified 21 separate targets in the villages of Ziban, al-Shuhail, Al-Zer and West Al-Basira, after receiving information from intelligence sources about movements of secret cells associated with ISIS  in the villages."

The operation lasted 3 hours.

The SDF also seized a number of weapons and ammunition during the raids.

Among the seized weapons and ammunition were: 1 sniper gun, 3 kalashnikov rifles, 3 pistols, 5 magazines, sniper binoculars, 15 kalashnikov magazines, 3 cell phones.
