The Third Congress of the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) opened on Monday.

The Congress is taking place at the Aram Tigran Culture and Art Center in Rimelan, Qamishlo.

Representatives of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD), as well as representatives of political parties and civil society organizations from Northern Syria are attending the Congress.

The Congress started with a minute's silence to pay tribute to the martyrs of freedom and then the opening speeches were delivered by TEV-DEM Executive Committee co-chairs Aldar Xelil and Asya Abdullah.

Messages from other organisations will be read and delegates will evaluate the progress and work to be done.
