Tens of thousands of people in Qamishlo attended the funeral of the 12 fighters who fell as martyrs in the and the YJA Star Commander Sozdar Cûdî, who fell in Mardin. The funeral took place in Martyr Delîl Saroxan Cemetery.
The large crowd accompanied the coffins of the martyrs with a convoy. Tens of thousands of people, Arabs, Assyrians and Armenians, as well as Kurds, were waiting for the coffins at the cemetery where a minute's silence was held in memory of all the martyrs.
Qamishlo Martyrs' Families Assembly co-chair, Masum Hesen, said that the Turkish state was defeated thanks to the people's support for the SDF and the Internal Security Forces. He added that the victory of the peoples means the defeat of the conspiracy. “The unity of the peoples should be strengthened. The struggle should be widened in the footsteps of the martyrs. The victory of the peoples is once again ensured. We take our will from our martyrs. Just as we achieved victory in Kobanê, we also achieved victory in Hesekê."
Hesen said that the aim of the Turkish state's attacks on Sina Prison was to cause problems among the peoples, and added that the peoples once again came together and disrupted the plans of the Turkish state.
Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) co-chair Zelal Ceger said: "Young people once again raised the flag of freedom with their resistance. The aim of our martyr fighters was to build a free and secure future for future generations."
Ceger said that the aim of the attack on Sina Prison was to destroy the fraternity of peoples and the Autonomous Administration project.
Heqî Kobanê, a SDF commander, paid tribute to the martyrs of the operation in Hesekê and said: "Thanks to the resistance of the martyrs and the people of the region, we foiled the plans of the enemy."
After the speeches, the Martyrs' Families Council read the martyrdom documents and delivered them to their families.
The names of the martyrs buried on Wednesday are as follows: Izedîn Mihemed (Azad Qamishlo), Mihemed El-Hesen, Xebat Ehmed (Gur Çolî), Ciwan Hemê (Zinar Qamishlo), Mihemed Ehmed (Mîtan Qamishlo), Ehmed Xelef, Şivan Hisên (Şivan Qamishlo), Seed Namo (Şiyar Qamishlo), Fehid Yusif (Dilşêr Qamishlo), Edhem Îbrahîm (Xeyrî Qamishlo), Omer Mihemed, Elawî El-Xelîl, Menal Yusif (Sozdar Cûdî).
