As a result of the intense efforts of the Health Committee, 17,500 doses of Coronavirus vaccine was sent to the Autonomous Administration regions by the World Health Organization. Health Committee co-chair, Dr. Ciwan Mistefa, said that they are in contact with WHO to send more vaccines.

The WHO, which sent vaccines through the Damascus government in May, sent 203,000 doses of vaccine to Syria. However, only 645 of these were delivered to the Autonomous Administration.

Stating that WHO has a duty to provide health services to all the peoples of the world, Ciwan Mistefa noted that as a result of intense efforts, they were able to bring 17,500 doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine to the Autonomous Administration regions.

Stating that the doses introduced will be sufficient for the vaccination of healthcare workers, Mistefa added that vaccination will begin in the coming days.

Commenting on the Astra Zeneca vaccine, Mistefa stated that the vaccine was tested in Europe and gave positive results. Noting that the WHO has promised to send more vaccines to Northern and Eastern Syria, Mistefa said that the second part of the vaccines will be sent by June.

Mistefa said that approximately 1 million doses of vaccine are needed in the region.
