The General Command of North and East Syria Internal Security Forces released a statement on arrest of 209 counterfeit money traffickers.

The statement included the following:

“In recent years, use of counterfeit dollars in commercial businesses has become highly common. This is a reflection of the special war waged against the region. Deceiving our people, some fraudsters intend to release the counterfeit money via people. They know how the value of dollar affects the market directly, and therefore, seek to damage the economy in the region.

The Organised Crime Control Department, in line with the decision of General Command of North and East Syria Internal Security Forces dated 14 July 2021, has monitored the conditions of the market in order to prevent propagation of the counterfeit money.

In this context, our forces arrested 209 counterfeit money traffickers, and seized 473,000 dollars of counterfeit cash (335,000 in Raqqa).”

The statement recorded that Internal Security Forces will selflessly continue their work to preserve peace and security in region.
