Speaking at the funeral ceremony for two fallen fighters in Tabqa, SDF field commander Umid Gabar said that 300 Syrian soldiers surrendered themselves to SDF forces recently.
Gabar denied Syrian claims that the authority in Tabqa will be transferred to Syrian regime and said “Our people should know, since 5 years that we founded YPG, and after SDF was formed we never gave a piece of our land to anybody. This land with our martyr’s blood on it is our people’s and we will never hand it over to any power.”
Gabar said recently a group of 300 Syrian soldiers surrendered themselves to SDF forces but didn’t give any details regarding the incident.
Tabqa was liberated from ISIS last year. The city has a strategic importance because of hosting the biggest hydroelectric power plant and one of the biggest military airbase in Syria.
