55,000 coronavirus vaccines transferred to North and East Syria not enough to counter 4th wave

Mehmud El-Ebdullah said that 55,000 coronavirus vaccines were transferred to the North and East Syrian regions and added that this number would not be enough due to the increase in cases.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria declared a general lockdown due to the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus. The health board took important measures to protect citizens from the virus.

The health board signed an agreement with the health organizations in coordination with the Kurdish Red Crescent to bring the coronavirus vaccine to the region and counter the virus. Health Board co-presidency spokesperson, Mehmud El-Ebdullah, said that 55,000 vaccines have arrived to the North and East Syrian regions.

Pointing out that the vaccines they have will be insufficient due to the increase in coronavirus cases, Mehmûd El-Ebdullah added: “The Board has determined a strategy for the vaccines. The first group to receive vaccination is health workers because they are the most in contact with patients and citizens.”

Noting that adults with heart problems and diabetes have been vaccinated, El-Ebdullah told ANHA that 15 centers in North and East Syria are giving the vaccine. El-Ebdullah added that those with other diseases will also be vaccinated safely. "There is help and coordination between us and the crisis desk to meet all the needs of the citizens and to keep the streets and bakeries open at certain hours."
