7 YPG fighters that fell martyr in the Raqqa operation have been laid to rest in a funeral ceremony in the Hesekê city of Rojava.
Hundreds of people from Hesekê city and surrounding villages gathered at the Martyrs' Families Council and received the bodies of the YPG fighters Ramî Taha (Nîdal Evîn), Tariq Hesen Nezal (Tariq Hesekê), Mihemed Hesen Erabî (Mûrad Hesekê), Dijwar Ebdullrehman Hesen (Egîd Agirî), Hemîd Elî (Sencar Hesekê), Mihemed Izo Salim (Meîş Hesekê) and Mûnîr Salih Hemîd (Mazlûm Qendîl)who fell fighting in the operation to liberate Raqqa from ISIS. Bodies of the martyrs were then transported in a long convoy of cars to the Martyr Dijwar Cemetery in Hesekê.
Before the people reached their destination, they got off the cars and continued by carrying the coffins of the martyrs to the cemetery on their backs with chants of slogans. The military ceremony started with a minute of silence, wherafter speeches were held by Bengin Badini on behalf of the Martyrs' Families Council, and Mele Sofi in the name of the Believers' Union. The speakers expressed their condolences to the martyrs' families and stressed that the peoples of the region can only live in freedom thanks to the exceptional resistance and struggle of their martyrs.
YPG Military Coordination Member Şiyar Delil followed and said the following after repeating the condolences to the families of the martyrs: "The fighters who are giving their lives make it possible that Raqqa is being cleansed of the terrorists who turned the city into their capital. The gangs suffer heavy blows at the hands of SDF fighters day by day during the operations for the liberation of the whole region. We vow to follow the path of the martyrs until our last breath."
After the speeches, the identities of the martyrs were read aloud by Martyrs' Families Council Executive Council member İlham Bekir, and handed over to their families, whereafter the bodies of the fallen fighters were laid to rest along with slogans.
