Since the beginning of 2018, Çilaxa People’s Municipality has carried out many projects such as repairing sewerage lines, road construction-repair works and park openings.

The People’s Municipality of Çilaxa, A district of Derik affiliated to the Canton of Qamishlo, has been carrying out many activities to provide services to its people.

The People’s Municipality has been implementing and starting various projects in the past six months.

The opening of Amara Park and the repair of sewer lines are only some of these projects.

Sewage network projects

One of the most common problems in the district was the clogging of sewer networks. In some neighbourhoods the sewer net could not be used.

The damaged pipelines have been repaired by the Municipality's Department of Technical Affairs that worked together with the neighbourhood Communes, and new sewer lines have been laid in other neighbourhoods.

Amara Park opened

There were no parks in the district in the past years. This meant that citizens had to travel to other places for excursions and picnics.

Then the municipality, in 2018, rolled up its sleeves to ensure a new park would be open. And indeed, they opened it. Thanks to the support of the residents, 'Amara Park’ was opened after water and electricity lines were set up and the area cleaned up.

At the same time, to make the city look better, shops and walls have been painted and decorated. The Martyr Maslum Crossroads was decorated with flowers and a cafe.

Municipal projects

Çilaxa Municipality Technical Department member Xunav Shemo stated that the municipality will continue its road maintenance works; women's park, vegetable market, and the opening of a public garage.
