AANES affirms their commitment to the principles of national dialogue to ensure stability but refutes the reports of official political meetings with the Damascus regime.
The spokesman of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), Kamal Akif, explained that there are no political meetings between AANES, the Syrian Democratic Council and the Damascus government, stressing their commitment to the principles of national dialogue.
In a statement on Friday, Akif said the following: "Recently, some parties and authorities have circulated news that meetings have taken place between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Syrian Democratic Council on one hand and the Syrian government on the other hand. While we affirm our commitment to the principles of national dialogue to ensure stability and Syrian-Syrian understanding, we also stress that no political meetings have taken place between us and Damascus. There is an understanding between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian army in Kobane and Manbij within the scope of the 2019 agreement to preserve the borders. Everything that is being discussed outside the official framework in the name of AANES and the Syrian Democratic Council is unfounded.”
