Afrin calls on the UN to stand against Turkey’s attacks

Call upon international human rights organisations to fulfill their moral duties to stop the crimes of Turkish forces and jihadist allies.

The civil society organisations from Afrin have gathered at the Serdem Camp in Shehba and protested against the Turkish state’s ongoing crimes against the people of Afrin and Syria.

A statement made here said: “The crisis and acts of violence in Syria have entered the 10th year. The suffering of the Syrian people continues mounting on the International Day of Peace declared by the United Nations in 1981.”

Highlighting the ongoing massacres, displacement and arrests, the statement continued: “The prisons under the control of the regime and the opposition are full with prisoners. On the other hand, the Turkish state continues with the aggravated isolation on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and people are dying in the prisons of Turkey. The Turkish state has once again manifested its brutality during the funeral of lawyer Ebru Timtik who fell on the 238th day of death fast demanding a fair trial.”

The statement ended with the following call: “We call upon international human rights organisations to fulfill their moral duties, to warn to presidents of concerned states and to release the prisoners of thought. We call upon human rights organisations to put an end to the crimes committed by the occupant Turkish state and allied mercenaries against the people of Afrin. We also call on all displaced people to return to their lands.”
