The people Afrin celebrated Newroz in the Shehba canton.  In his speech, Şîraz Hemo, co-chair of the Afrin Region Autonomous Administration Executive Council, said: “Newroz is celebrated everywhere by everyone who resists the persecution and all the Kurdish people. The Newroz fire will spoil the plans of the invaders, and on this historic day, we renew our promise to save the lands of Afrin and Shehba from the invaders and mercenaries. The burning of the Newroz torch is the beginning of the terrorism defeat."

Hesen Koçer, a member of the Executive Council of the Syrian Future Party, said: "The resistance will continue until Afrin is liberated. Turkish occupation and mercenaries cannot break our will and defeat us. We will liberate Afrin, Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê from occupation.”

Koçer added that “Afrin people in Shehba have been fighting for three years despite the silence of the international community.”
